Question for the Month - July 2010

In light of the dark and current situation the United States of America is involved in, regarding the explosion of the BP (British Petroleum) Oil Rig in the Gulf of Mexico, which occurred in April 2010, is being deemed another saga of this country, gone amok.

The unfortunate is, a growing number of human beings have lost their precious lives and families are now without their loved ones and the fishermen have lost and continue to loose wages; because, of the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.  There seems to be no concrete or viable answer presently from BP, President Obama, his administration and the associated governmental officials and outside experts, of how best to stop the gas that is mixed with oil that is spewing out thousand upon thousands of gallons daily into the Gulf of Mexico.  This is not only a direct danger to the Gulf of Mexico; and, the people who live and reside in the state of Louisiana and Mexico; but, to the wild life, sea life, beaches, land; and, all the water in the world.  Couple with the fact that their seems to be a lot of finger pointing starting with BP pointing its finger at the Government, the Government pointing its finger back at BP, etc.  If not handled correctly this is a situation that could go on for months, unresolved.

The powers to be at BP have been deeply questioned by the United States Congress and other Governmental Agencies, that overview this type of tragedy.  This organization has been asked several times all of the necessary why’s, who, how’s, and what can be done about the leak, loss of wages to the citizens of Louisiana, health issues participants face in regards to the clean up efforts, life long endangerment to the Gulf of Mexico, our world waters, its wildlife, eco system and the overall short/long-term negative devastation.

Question – In lieu of all of the queries from The United States Congress, our governmental officials and its associated governmental agencies, to BP, there still seems to be no start for resolving any related issues that were caused by BP that have now resulted in a lifelong negative outcome in the Gulf of Mexico.   Do you think mediation could play an important role for maximizing the desired efforts for resolving the number of issues (e.g. lost lives/wages, health concerns), in order to be expeditious in bringing about much needed financial assistance to those who need it, for example.  As well as, solving other disagreements that are related to this castatrophe?
